Feike 395 Sport

04/26/2016

Feike 395´s career developed in a rather unusual way. Born in 1993 in Boyl at the yard of the Oosterkamp family, he was moved to the USA in 2000 where he was approved in 2001 (the 14th stallion that year!) at the age of eight. He was the last stallion to be approved in the USA on the basis of an exception to the Stallion Inspection Regulations. The exception involved the completion of a three-week Performance Test and a restricted breeding licence which was only valid in North America. During the three-week period of the Central Examination he was trained by Susan Bouwman, who was a member of the KFPS rider team which was also engaged in the Central Examination in the Netherlands. During performance testing Feike 395 mainly impressed in the riding horse discipline which later, in 2011, earned him the Sport predicate. Since his arrival in the USA Feike 395 has been owned by Annette Coester´s Royal Carousel Friesians in the state of Utah.

Feike 395 was a son of the Preferent Feitse 293 and his dam was the Model Preferent Naen 264 daughter Jelsje. Jelsje was a broodmare with an outstanding record who brought the grand total of nine Star offspring, two of which have meanwhile risen to Preferent. She was a descendant from a prominent line of pedigree 128. Jeltje’s dam was the Star Preferent *6 Ritske 202 daughter Enka (3 Preferent daughters) who was also the granddam of the Preferent Leffert 306. Via Enka we get to the Model Preferent *5 Claartje (5 Preferent daughters). Claartje (Bouke 174) is also the granddam of Studbook stallion Ulbert 390 who found his way to the USA too.
Number-wise his influence has been rather limited because his breeding licence was only valid in North America. Up to this point in time he has an overall 45 offspring with a Star declaration including one daughter who has become Crown (Doaitsen 420 half sister Winifred P). Two offspring have earned the Sport predicate. Based on offspring he received a permanent breeding licence in 2009 but again, only for North America. From his offspring the most well-known is the stallion Wybren 464, who was also approved in the USA in 2011 and who has been standing stud in the Netherlands for a period of two years.
