A Message from the President Marc DiLeo…

04/01/2014

This is my first correspondence as your new President and I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank the Board for having the confidence in me to lead our Association for this next year. I’d like to think I’m a fair person and will always do what I believe is right for our membership, our horses and our association. My door is always open, as they say, so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Some of you may not know anything about me, so I thought I’d give an introduction of who I am and what keeps me busy. I’ve been on the Board for 8 years and currently in my 9th year. My wife Erin and I have been married for 22 years and have had Friesian horses since 2001. We currently have 5 Friesian Horses. While I started out in the breed as a western trail rider, I have come to know Driving with my gelding and it has become a passion of mine. I am a driver through and through.

My full time job is as a firefighter in Southern California, I’ve been doing it for 27 years, held every office and position on the Firefighters association and was the Fire District’s Computer Network Administrator for about 15 years. I currently am an Engineer; I get to drive the fire engine.

I tend to be a very social person and therefore am very active on Facebook. I’ve seen many changes, in the right direction, over the last 8 years with our Association. Most of which had Beth Sharp at the helm. Beth, has done a great job as our President and as her Vice President for most of those I’ve learned a lot. I want thank Beth for her time as our President and the job she’s done. For the last six years we also had Scott Kelnhofer to help guide our Association and I couldn’t go without thanking Scott as well. His care, dedication and passion for our breed is undeniable. To say I have some big shoes to fill is quite the understatement. I’m surrounded by a great Board for 2014 and therefore look forward to the challenges that 2014 may bring.

-Marc DiLeo
