The Dutch breeding days have been concluded and many stables and owners are getting ready for the grand finale of the 2013 Central Mare Inspection in Drachten. The number of entered horses slightly exceeds last year’s number, but there is a decrease in 3-year-olds that will be presented to the judges. More older Star mares will put in an appearance than last year. This season the number of first premiums for 3-year-olds dropped ten behind if compared to last year. In the category for mares four years and over the reverse was true with an increase of twenty first premiums. This gives rise to the modest anticipation that this year’s CK-Champion may well come from the older ranks. But let’s not forget the strong batch of 3-year-old likely candidates. Two 3-year-old daughters of Haitse 425 Sport made it to Champion: Haitske fan het Vaantje in Kootwijk and Izzy M in Ambt-Delden. Title holder for winning most awards is probably Geertje v.d. W. (Haitse 425 Sport). She has added the title of Vice-Champion Breeding Day in Assen to her list of last year’s Vice-Champion Young Horses and Champion 2-year-olds at the CK. The batch of 3-year-olds has brought forth several champions. There are Gentle M. (Maurus 441 Sport) and Vice-Champion Breeding Day Hieke V. fan de Miedwei (Haitse 425 Sport), both from Oldeholtpade. Hindrikje M. (Olrik 383 Sport) was presented in Garijp and also took home the title. In Hilvarenbeek the title for Best 3-year-old was claimed by Goedele van de Demrostables (Pier 448 Sport) who later went on to become Vice-Champion of the Day. Finally, the title for 3-year-olds in Blauwhuis was for Grytsje fan it Hiem (Jense 432 Sport)
Category 4-year-olds and older Stars The category for 4-year-olds and older Stars knows some grand ladies. Among them Caja Moeskaer (Loadewyk 431 Sport), twice-over Oldeholtpade-Champion and last year’s Overall Vice-Champion at the CK. Annette fan ‘e Hamsterheide (Doaitsen 420 Sport) is the grand lady of Garijp who as a 2-year-old had also pocketed the title Champion of the Day. This category also includes Assen’s Champion Freule van ‘t Drentse Hof (Gjalt 426 Sport) and the spanking new Queen of Blauwhuis Elza Maaike v.d. Noeste Hoeve (Norbert 444 Sport). The Model Predicate as well as thé title are within reach of former CK Champion Trudi (Wikke 404 Sport). She was the 2009 CK Champion and this year won the title Breeding Day Champion of Hilvarenbeek. Tieneke R. (Felle 422 Sport) is also a former Hilvarenbeek Breeding Day Champion and Truus van het Houkumhuis (Tsjalke 397) was supreme in Helden-Panningen.
