Driving Sports Predicate Clarified

03/22/2011

Requirements:
  • The test that is required is FEI #9 Single Horse
  • Must obtain a 60% or better score.
  • Must have 10 scores of 60% or better of the FEI #9 test.
  • Must have scores from at least 3 different Judges.
As agreed, the judges can be either a "R" Dressage or a "R" Combined Driving*.  Some judges have both licenses, but either can correctly judge.

*There are four types of ADS Judges that are "R": Dressage, Combined Driving, Pleasure Driving, and Coaching.  Only the first two can judge the FEI #9 test.

How the FHANA Sports Committee came to these requirements:
  • 3 years ago FHANA requests the ability to obtain the Sports Predicate in North America from the KFPS
  • The KFPS requires the Z1 test + 10 points
  • Since North America  does not have this test available, THE KFPS recommends using the FEI #9 single horse test.
  • Like the Ridden Sports Predicate, since we do not have a point system in North America the KFPS stipulates 10 scores needed in place of the 10 points.
  • After reviewing the FEI #9 test, the FHANA Sports Committee looks at the Z1 tests they use in the Nl. and the possibilities of doing this test here in North America.
  • The FHANA Sports committee starts to work with the American Driving Society (ADS) to look at using the Z1 test.
  • In the end the ADS recommends utilizing the FEI #9 test as it’s close to the Z1 test and is already available in North America.
  • It is noted how hard it will be to obtain 10 scores of this test because of availability of venues by the ADS, the FHANA Sports Committee and the FHANA Board.
  • The ADS and the FHANA Sports Committee see a need to develop a point system to ease the burden of the 10 score requirement.
  • The FHANA Sports committee decides to implement the ability to achieve the Sports Predicate in Driving with the 10 scores.
  • The FHANA Sports committee commits to develop the program further with a point system.
  • The FHANA Sports committee publicly announces the above to the general membership at the Feb. 2011 AGM in Hanford Ca.
  • The FHANA Sports committee recommends saving all test scores for future and past tests as they may prove to be valuable and assist you in gaining the required POINTS at some point in the future.

The FHANA Sports committee is devoted to making it easier to obtain the requirements for the Driving Sports predicate and will be working as hard as ever to make it happen. Please bare with us as we work to bring the KFPS, American Driving Society and the FHANA all in agreement on these important Friesian Horse Sports Goals.
