Nanning 374 Released by USDA to Breed

05/10/2009

We knew, after our January 15, 2009 announcement regarding Nanning 374, that this day, a day to celebrate would eventually come. Shelley and I are ecstatic to announce the release from quarantine and return to breeding of Nanning 374. This release comes courtesy of the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA gave Nanning his release today, May 11, 2009, after Nanning successfully cultured negative and after live covering two mares who were cultured three, six, nine and twenty-eight days after cover. The test mares were also blood tested at twenty-one days. All of the cultures and blood tests came back negative. So now with this nightmare now in our past, we look forward to working with our previous breeding partners and hopefully developing new ones.

In closing, Shelley and I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive throughout this entire ordeal. The support and understanding of the Friesian community has meant more than anyone will ever know.
Sincerely,
Scott and Shelley Kelnhofer
