FHANA Introduces Research Grant Program

in news

FHANA is proud to announce the establishment of the FHANA Research Grant Program.  In February 2020, FHANA held a strategic planning session with its members to chart the course for the association’s future.  “Becoming a Leader in Genetic Research and Equine Wellness” was a one of the key goals set by FHANA members. FHANA’s Education Committee was tasked to address this goal.  In response, the committee developed the FHANA Research Grant Program which was recently approved by the FHANA Board to launch in 2022.

The goal of the FHANA Research Grant Program is to support equine veterinarians in the United States of America or Canada who are in programs that will advance their research skills with a goal of continuing an academic or research career path that will ultimately improve the health and welfare of Friesian horses.  Selected proposal/proposals will be funded up to $10,000 total in 2022.

The program’s areas of research interest for 2022 include:

·       Megaesophagus

·       Aortic Rupture

·       Chronic Progressive Lymphedema (CPL)

·       Colic

·       Connective Tissue Disorders

·       Insect Bite-Hypersensitivity

Though key areas of interest are noted, applications on any topic will be considered for funding and all researchers are encouraged to apply.
