05/30/2017

The 2017 ABFP testing is set to start on Oct. 16 (MI), and Oct 18 (CA) at the following locations:

Michigan Location (10 available spots):  Trainer-Alfons van Proosdij

Centenial Acres Equestrian Center

4350 61st Street

Holland, MI 49423

California Location (8 available spots): Trainer-Martinus Hoekstra

Blue Dreamin' Farms

44053 Glenn Baker Rd.

Ahwahnee, CA 93601

The cost to participate in the ABFP training/testing is $500 for the horse owners.  The remainder of the expenses is covered by the stallion owner and FHANA.  This is a great opportunity to have your horse trained by a professional trainer at a very inexpensive fee.

As most of you are aware, young stallions cannot obtain their full permanent breeding license until they have had 20 adult offspring complete this testing. The KFPS expects this to be accomplished following the stallion's 6th breeding season by testing 3 and 4 year olds from his first two years at stud. If this is not completed in a timely manner, the KFPS can and will suspend a stallion's breeding license. However, the KFPS has granted foreign stallions and additional year to complete their testing and obtain their permanent stallion approval.  Stallions approved here in North America are required to stand at stud here for at least their first two years, and we, of course, wish to keep them here long after that. There is no way to accomplish this offspring testing in a timely manner for these stallions unless we can do it here in North America.

All horses entered for the ABFP testing will be encouraged to participate in an inspection prior to attending the ABFP testing.  The horses need to be in good physical condition prior to arriving and by attending an inspection, this will help to ensure that you have properly conditioned your horse in preparation for the inspections and the ABFP testing.  Note: FHANA will not be conducting an inspection at the completion of the testing.

Bene 476 and Date 477 horses will have precendence in attending.  If all stalls are not filled by Bene 476 or Date 477 offspring, then FHANA members will have the option to send any friesian (regardless of stallion) to be trained.  An ABFP score counts similar to an IBOP score.  Please contact FHANA for details and costs.
