Having four approved sons, one Preferent- , two Crown- and six Model daughters as well as 25 offspring with the Sport predicate, Heinse 354 has earned sufficient points for Preferent status.
On March 5th 1994, Heinse 354 saw the light of day at Bouwe Reijenga’s yard in Drachten. Son Pier Reijenga: ‘My father bought the Friesian filly Piterkje (Fokke 217 x Ulrig 204) in 1977 and this mare has become the heart and soul of his breeding programme.’
Piterkje gave him eighteen offspring with nine of them becoming Star. Reijenga paired her oldest daughter Bettie Star (Oege 267) with Dimer 285 (Dagho 247). We all know Dimer 285 as a magnificent, beautiful stallion who could be valuable in terms of enhancing breeding type. After his approval in 1985 Dimer stood stud for just one season. In the autumn he completed his Central Examination with substantially insufficient marks for walk, character and training report, which was reason enough to withdraw him from stud services. He has 24 registered offspring, one of them being the dam of Heinse 354: Ljutske, who was born in 1986. She rose to Star with a first premium at the age of three and was the Reserve Champion of the Central Inspection.
Each year Bouwe Reijenga used to keep a few of the more promising foals and Heinse 354 was one of them. Later he scored great marks in the Performance Test with nines for character and stable manners.
Leppehorne Station
Heinse 354 came to stand stud at Sybren Bangma’s Leppehorne station in Oldeboorn. ‘Heinse’s fertilising qualities were fine, but I had to take it easy with him. His semen concentration could be somewhat on the low side, and he also had a tendency to become nervous and in need of reassurance. Heinse’s offspring also sometimes tend to struggle with nerves, they thrive best when there’s a strong basis of trust and don’t respond too well to pressure.’
Sybren Minkema steered Heinse to several Champion titles in carriage driving and under Susan Reijenga-Hazelhoff he managed to secure the Sport predicate in dressage. During 2003 Heinse 354 stood stud at Doeke Hoekstra’s yard in Groot Archem and then left for the USA in 2004 where he was bought by Mary Alice Malone of the Iron Spring Farm.
In 2009 we were informed that Heinse 354 had died of colic. Pier Reijenga: ‘One year after that my father died at the age of 79. Heinse has always been his greatest pride and joy.’
