Roark, Sport will be the solitary Friesian horse among a sea of the USA’s top ranked Warmbloods at the National Young & Developing Horse Championships held August 24-28. Roark is owned and bred by Kimberly Perkins of Ambassador Friesians. This 6 year old FEI Competitor and Ster Stallion qualified with a 7.68% median with his rider, Heather Mason of Flying Change Farm. "Roark makes me grateful every day -he tries harder than any horse I know and he always performs with a sense of genuine joy," states Mrs. Perkins.
Launched in 2001, the Young Horse Program program was designed to identify and recognize outstanding talent and ensure a properly structured training for the development of these international-caliber horses; and to prepare these horses for future careers at the FEI level and participation on U.S. High Performance teams. Only after being invited, can the top ranked horses in the country compete at this prestigious event. Roark is the first Friesian horse to be invited since the new criteria of a 7.2 had been implemented a few years ago. Let’s wish Roark and his people all the best at one of our Nation’s most prestigious events!
