Board of Director Highlights June 20, 2023

The FHANA Board of Directors met on Tuesday June 20, 2023.  Here are some highlights from the meeting.

• The Inspection Committee presented a revised circuit 5 schedule which will include a stallion viewing option with the KFPS Stallion Jury.  Please see the website for this updated schedule.
• The BBII Adhoc Committee has presented several suggestions to the board:
  • Change the color of the registration papers and include a distinct watermark.
  • To allow all KFPS registered Friesian horses 3 years or older the opportunity to be inspected by video for their respective studbooks with judges comments.
    • Note: this judging would not allow for a linear score.  The horses would not be allowed to participate in a “Live” inspection for that calendar year.  The goal of this is to help those members living in a remote area.
  • A recommendation was made that all information on all non-licensed stallions be public and available to all members in the KFPS horse database.  This information would include: DNA Results, Linear Characteristics, and Kinship Calculations.
  • A recommendation of approved stallion currently “on hold” offspring be placed in BBI.
  • A recommendation that foal book stallions get a temporary breeding license in Canada only following the KFPS Rules and Regulations for temporary breeding licenses.
• The Membership Committee is planning a “New” member orientation to be held on July 17.  More information will come out soon.

Note: BBII recommendations are not finalized and will be presented to the KFPS for further consideration.
