Markey Family Relief Fund

The Great Lakes Friesian Horse Association and FHANA are teaming up to help support our members Larry and Lana Markey.  Please read the information below as submitted by the GLFHA in support of the Markey’s

It is with a heavy heart we are sharing the tragic news of the Markey family’s loss. Yesterday their home was destroyed by fire. Most importantly, there was no loss of life, the Markey’s and their beloved Friesians are safe. Unfortunately, the fire also destroyed their barn including their hay, their feed, and tack.

As you would expect, the family is in shock and will begin the long journey to recover. Our hearts go out to Lana and Larry and we, the GLFHA family, are here to support and assist them in any way possible. If you are able and willing to donate to the GLFHA Markey Relief Fund, our association is setting up a PayPal account to collect donations; this link will soon be available at – [email protected]. Tiffany van der Kooi, GLFHA Treasurer will collect these donations to forward to the family for feed and needed supplies.

2020 has been a difficult year for all. This, in concert with the fire is truly unimaginable. Our association is comprised of incredible, caring people, people who readily support one another – please keep Lana and Larry in  thoughts and prayers.
