Liza van de Meikade Model Sport AAA 2024 Memorial Award FHANA/KFPS Mare Show Participants

Mares have been transported as far as Texas and Canada for what is THE premier KFPS Friesian mare event in North America – the FHANA Central Mare Show. The Mare Show has grown in popularity and quality each year, which is a tribute to the many hard-working breeders striving to produce high quality Friesians in North America. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our breeders, both big and small, for continuing to help the Friesian horse grow and thrive in North America! Your contributions to this magnificent breed is seen in the exquisite quality of KFPS Friesian mares in North America.

In recognition of these incredible horses we are proud to announce a new Central Mare Show award generously donated by Brush Row Farm, LLC and Benka Friesians – the Liza van de Meikade Model Sport AAA Memorial Award. Liza van de Meikade was a two time Mare Show Champion, the only mare one to achieve this status since the inception of the North American Mare Show. She has won a plethora of awards and recognitions including but not limited to Model Mare Champion, Sport Predicate AAA, FHANA Horse of the Year, and numerous USEF and IFSHA awards. Liza is well known for her impressive trot, earning an 8! She had been a proud breed ambassador, promoting the breed in multiple media settings within and outside of North America.

In her honor of this unforgettable mare, Liza van de Meikade, Brush Row Farm and Benka Friesians are offering the Liza van de Meikade Model Sport AAA Memorial Award to the 2024 Central Mare Show Champion at the 2024 Kentucky Event. This award includes:

A hand designed and painted traditional award plate made in Holland by exceptional Dutch artists.

A custom painted portrait of the winning horse by South African artist Michelle Symington Equine Michelle Symington.

A very generous gift card to “Lumiere” one of the finest leather good makers, highlighting anatomically designed equipment for a horse’s maximum comfort and style.

A floral bouquet.

Finally, your horse’s name engraved on the Liza van de Meikade perpetual trophy on   display in the FHANA office.

The Liza van de Meikade Model Sport AAA Memorial Award criteria includes:

The winning mare must be a KFPS Friesian mare aged 1 year or older.

The owner of the CMS Champion horse must be an active FHANA member in good standing.

The Friesian mare must be registered with FHANA /KFPS with a locatable microchip.

The winner of the CMS Championship 2024 held in KY (overall winner) will be the winner of the Liza van de Meikade Model Sport AAA Memorial award this year.
