SNP Genetic Testing 2027 Requirement

In 2023 the KFPS adopted the SNP test as the standard for genetic testing. All foals born since then have been getting their SNP with their registration, and testing mares has been voluntary. We have over 1700 horses with a completed SNP test on file. In 2027 it will be a requirement that all parents of a foal being registered have an SNP on file. The current cost for SNP test is $75; however, in 2027 the fee will increase to match the current fee charged by the KFPS (96 Eruo) we highly encourage you to request the SNP before next year.
