The Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) is currently collaborating with various equine industry partners to analyze critical data regarding the health of our Friesian horses. To ensure the success and accuracy of this research, we require comprehensive information concerning foal deaths within North America.

You may recall recent correspondence from the Fenway Foundation requesting similar data, including specific instructions on how to report the loss of any horse registered with FHANA and the KFPS. I strongly encourage you to assist us in our efforts to protect and improve the Friesian breed by submitting this information. Please note that the organization does not require you to surrender the registration papers of a deceased horse to participate in this study.

The Fenway Foundation is working hard on data analysis and research regarding the health of our Friesians.  Please remember that The Fenway Foundation offers grant money to support necropsies for Freisians up to $400.00.  You can find out more from their website at: (Fenway)

The Fenway Foundation is in the process of completing a large laboratory to create a DNA library of purebred Friesian Horses.  Details will be forthcoming.  I hope you all will consider supporting this collection of data to assist in research.
