Offsite activities include an Evening Reception at the Las Vegas MOB MuseumThe Horseman’s Park(Offsite Clinics and Exhibitions)Additional Excursion:On Sunday Feb. 26, 2022, FHANA is planning a tour of Hoover Dam.  The luxury tour bus with panoramic windows and restrooms will pick up the FHANA members who are registered to attend the tour by bus.  The tour will a stop at the Las Vegas welcome sign for photos, drive out to the Hoover Dam memorial bridge, for panoramic photos of the dam, walking tour on top of the dam, entrance tickets into the interior of the dam with a tour inside, free time to explore the top of the dam, restaurant Lunch, comedian on the bus to entertain and educate, and ice cold bottled water.Cost $149/person-Pre-registration is required.  Cutoff Jan. 15, 2023We must have 30 signed up in order to conduct this tour.2023 Speakers Include:Jenny VeenstraDutch born, Belgium based Jenny has been a professional rider for over thirty years, working at several dressage stables, training horses for elite riders.She also trained jumping horses, driving horses and Arabians, and has experience with all breeds.From starting young horses to training horses at Grand Prix level for a former European Champion, Jenny has been training with three time Olympians’ Tineke Bartels and her daughter Imke Schellekens-Bartels for over twenty years, she was previously selected by them to be the head instructor for training-weeks for Friesians at their Academy Bartels, Home of the Global Dressage Forum.In the past Jenny trained with her Friesian Grand Prix stallion Wolter V with Alex van Silfhout, bondscoach of the Dutch national team, and is currently training with her young horses with Johan Rockx, bondscoach for Holland at the Rio Olympics, as well as with Academy Bartels.She also trained with Classical Master Arthur Kottas, former Head/Oberbereiter of the Spanish Riding School.Jenny has also been trained to do in-hand work and lunging, and had years of driving lessons with Piet de Boer.As a trainer she is travelling all over the world (Australia, USA, South-Africa, Europe) training and helping riders from low levels to Grand Prix.Her training principles are based on lightness and understanding, combining classical principles and the German Training Scale with new insights, and Natural Horsemanship methods.
Alex GibsonAlex Gibson has been around friesians most of his life. He fell in love with the breed after his mother purchased a friesian when he was 5 years old. From then on he was hooked. Alex grew up in Southern California learning from some of the biggest ranches around the state. He has over 20 years of experience of running in keurings. Which includes inspections all over the country and Canada. Running many of the approved stallions as well. Alex has also been involved in the prep for inspections. He has worked with horses for Ster, 70 Day testing, IBOP, Crown and even Model. He helped prepare horses with Tuls Friesians, Back Horse Valley Ranch, Blumenthal Friesians, Maddis Friesians, Schonk Friesians and others in Inspection prep. Alex has also been involved in the stallion and offspring testing. Besides inspection prep, he continues to work with horses under saddle and carriage training. Alex has experience in dressage, jumping, long lining and starting horses under saddle. His carriage work includes single, pairs, tandom, random and four in hand . Alex loves sharing what he has learned and experienced with this fantastic breed and looks forward to learning more.
Brian BonnellCertified Journeyman Farrier, Tester and InstructorAmerican Farriers AssociationWith nearly a quarter century of horseshoeing experience Brian has reached the pinnacle of his career. Since 2005 Brian has been a Journeyman Farrier with the AFA (The highest level of certification possible) and has mentored  countless young farriers as they pursue advance certification with the AFA. He  has competed and placed  in National level Farrier competitions. In addition to Farrier work Brian fabricates knives and decorative art in his blacksmith shop.  His philosophy is simple, horses are the clients and their overall foot health is critical.
